There’s something different about an evening at Hotel Saranac. Step into The Great Hall, and you’ll find a space where history, music, and atmosphere come together effortlessly.
Set in the heart of Saranac Lake, this iconic gathering space is more than just a bar or lounge – it’s the social heartbeat of the hotel, echoing nearly a century of stories, celebrations, and late-night conversations.
Where History Sets the Scene
From the moment you step inside, The Great Hall makes an impression. Inspired by a 14th-century Italian palazzo and modeled after Florence’s Davanzati Palace, the space blends Old World grandeur with Adirondack warmth.
Exposed beams stretch overhead. A grand fireplace anchors the room. Rich textures and carefully restored details create an ambiance that feels both elevated and inviting – never overly formal, always welcoming.
Originally opened in 1927 and meticulously restored, Hotel Saranac has long been a cultural hub in the village, offering a place where locals and travelers naturally gather and connect.
The Rhythm of the Night
Evenings at The Great Hall follow a rhythm of their own. From 7:00 to 10:00 PM, live performances bring the space to life, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and alive.
With a rotating lineup of talented artists each week, there’s always something new to discover, whether you’re settling in for a relaxed evening or letting the night unfold a little longer than planned. This season’s lineup features a diverse mix of talented artists, including Edward Swanton, Knotty Paddy, Charlie Reinertsen, Dominic Amato, Moment’s Notice, Sarah Mitchell, The Lucky Berrys, Jonathan Foster, Andy Walkow, Joe Waters, and Austin of The In-Laws, each bringing their own unique sound and energy.

Cocktails, Conversation, and Connection
The drinks here are as thoughtfully curated as the space itself. The bar features a wide selection of spirits, wines, and craft beverages, alongside shareable plates designed for lingering. There’s a natural rhythm to the room. Groups gather, conversations take place, laughter carries. Whether you arrive as a couple, with friends, or solo, it’s easy to settle in and feel part of the moment.
Step Outside, Stay Awhile
Beyond the hall, the terrace offers a different kind of magic. With Adirondack views and fire pits, it’s the perfect place to step outside between songs, sip your drink under the stars, and take in the mountain air.
It’s this seamless indoor-outdoor flow that makes the experience feel complete rooted in both design and destination.
Make It More Than a Night Out
An evening at The Great Hall is best enjoyed without watching the clock and that’s where staying at Hotel Saranac transforms the entire experience.
Upstairs, guest rooms blend historic character with modern comfort, while the surrounding village invites exploration the next morning from boutiques and cafés to nearby Adirondack adventures, all within walking distance.
What begins as a night out naturally becomes a full, immersive weekend experience.
Where Evenings Become Traditions
Some nights are carefully planned, while others unfold naturally and somehow become the ones you hold onto. The Great Hall draws you in with an easy kind of charm, inviting you to settle in, stay awhile, and simply enjoy. We look forward to welcoming you to experience live music throughout the month in our historic space.
